Wrong scooter model at pickup in Pattaya
A different bike is neither automatically permitted nor automatically a refundable downgrade. Compare the exact model-or-class promise, then accept or decline written revised terms.
On this page
Read whether the booking promises an exact model, named features or only a class with an equivalent-vehicle clause. If the offered bike differs, ask for a written offer naming the actual bike, complete price, security and terms. Accept or decline before taking custody.
A quote might name a Yamaha NMAX, while the offered vehicle is a different model; a request for automatic might meet a semi-automatic. This publication has no authoritative Pattaya-wide substitution rate or evidence supporting assumptions about motive. Start with the words accepted for this booking and the actual bike offered at handover.
The critical evidence is not a claimed pattern among “fair” or “problem” shops. It is whether the quote guaranteed a model or allowed an equivalent class, what equivalence means, and whether the operator issued revised terms before acceptance. Match the model, plate or fleet number and condition record to avoid ambiguity in a later pre-existing damage claim.
Why the written vehicle promise matters
The operator may explain that the booked bike is unavailable, but availability and motive remain booking-specific. Ask whether the offer is the named model, an allowed equivalent or a new proposal. If transmission or another feature matters, make it an explicit acceptance condition. See automatic vs manual and the model pages for NMAX, Click, and PCX.
Suitability cannot be reduced to an unsupported Pattaya route claim. Check the manufacturer's stated load limits and specifications for the exact vehicle, the number of riders, luggage, planned roads, weather and the rider's licence and ability. Permission to substitute does not establish safe or insured use.
What to do at the counter before you pay
Compare frame to quote
Compare the quoted model and variant with the supplied unit’s documents and plate or unique identifier. A body-panel badge alone is not enough to establish model identity. Have the operator resolve any mismatch before you sign the final inventory.
Request a revised offer or decline
Ask for the promised vehicle or a written offer for the actual one. Do not assume what price adjustment is due; compare complete terms and decide before acceptance. See choosing a shop.
Fix the contract line
Model, plate or fleet number, deposit, return time, and rate must reflect the actual bike. See reading the contract and keeping a photo copy.
Film the handover
Video the bike badge, plate, and contract model field in one clip. Run the full pickup checklist walk-around on this frame, not the one you imagined booking.
Revised vehicle, price and features
There is no verified Pattaya-wide downgrade refund or fixed price reduction. Ask for a complete revised quote for the actual bike and dates. Record transmission, braking equipment, storage or other promised features that affect your decision. An operator calling a change an “upgrade” does not require you to accept it.
Ask the operator to restate the security amount, purpose and return rule for the actual vehicle. Do not infer an appropriate amount from a citywide band or an invented example. Compare the written term and payment recipient using the high-security checks and security guide.
Return day when the wrong model was never fixed
If you already rode away on a mismatched contract, preserve the pickup video and contract photos as evidence of the frame you accepted. If an allegation names a different bike ID, request its contract, custody and condition basis. Follow the damage-claim checks and return-day evidence process.
Run the full checklist on the bike you actually receive
The checklist connects condition photos and contract fields to the actual vehicle before keys turn.
