About Pattaya Vehicle Rentals

An independent editorial guide to renting a scooter, motorbike or car in Pattaya — written for the visitor who just wants a fair deal and a straightforward ride.

In short

Pattaya Vehicle Rentals reviews rental shops honestly — through anonymous rentals, at real prices, with no money taken from the shops — and publishes plain-English guides on costs, the law, and how not to get scammed. It is operated by TIMPAEMI Co., Ltd. as part of the Pattaya Authority network.

What this is

This site has two halves. The first is an editorial directory of vehicle-rental shops in Pattaya and on the Eastern Seaboard — scooter and motorbike shops, and car-rental agencies — each reviewed through a real, anonymous rental and given a plain verdict. The second is a guide hub: practical, plain-English articles on what rental costs, the licence and traffic rules that catch tourists out, and, above all, how the common rental scams work and how to avoid them.

It is written for Western tourists and long-stay expats — people who are renting in an unfamiliar country, often for the first time, and who deserve a clear-eyed guide rather than a sales pitch.

Why it exists

Renting a vehicle is one of the best things about Pattaya, and one of the most common things tourists report going wrong. The reason is not the riding — it is the deals. Inflated deposits, passports held as ransom, fake damage charges on return, old damage written onto contracts as new: these are the stories every visitor hears, and they are common enough to be worth a whole publication.

Most rental shops in Pattaya are ordinary, honest businesses. The problem is that, as a short-stay visitor, you have no easy way to tell those apart from the few that are not — and no leverage if you guess wrong. This site exists to close that gap: to name the shops that treat renters fairly, and to arm every renter with the knowledge that makes the scams stop working.

How it is different

Plenty of pages will tell you where to rent. Almost none of them paid for the rental. We do. The editors rent anonymously, as ordinary customers, and pay the real price in full — never a free or discounted vehicle, never a sponsorship, never an affiliate commission. A shop cannot buy a review or a better verdict. Our verdicts judge one thing only: how a shop treats a renter — the deposit, the contract, the passport policy, the honesty on return. The full method is set out on our editorial standards page, which is the authoritative reference for how we work.

Who is behind it

Pattaya Vehicle Rentals is owned and operated by TIMPAEMI Co., Ltd., the company founded by Tim Paemi, and is published as part of the Pattaya Authority network of independent Pattaya guides. Day-to-day reviews and guides carry the byline “The Editors”, because the work — the anonymous rentals, the documentation, the writing — is a collective effort rather than any one person’s.

The Pattaya Authority network

This site is one of a family of independent Pattaya publications operated under the Pattaya Authority network — alongside guides to the city’s restaurants, medical facilities, visas, gyms, schools, coffee and more. Each is editorially independent; the network shares engineering and standards, not commercial interests.

What we do not do

  • We are not a rental broker or agency. We do not rent vehicles, take bookings, or arrange rentals.
  • We earn no commission when you rent anywhere.
  • We carry no advertising from rental businesses, and no sponsored placements.
  • We are not a legal service. Our guides explain the rules as context, but nothing on this site is legal advice.
