Honda Click vs Yamaha NMAX for Pattaya rental
First identify which Click the shop means: a Click 125 and Click 160 are not the same comparison. Current Thai specifications and one dated Pattaya price list make the trade-off concrete.
Choose a Click 125 when lower rental cost and a compact city bike are the priority. Compare a Click 160 and NMAX 155 on the exact year, weight, fit, brakes and price rather than assuming engine size decides everything. A current Thai Click160 is listed at 119kg; current Thai NMAX variants are 131–134kg. Treat every option as a motorcycle for licence and insurance checks.
The short answer
Choose a Honda Click when you want the smaller, lower-priced category shown on a current local operator list. Consider a Yamaha NMAX when a physically larger 155cc scooter fits you better and the higher quote makes sense for your trip. Both are automatic scooters, but “Click” may mean a 125cc or 160cc variant.
On 23 August 2026, Best Motors’ Pattaya scooter page separated Click 125, Click 160 and NMAX into three price lines. That establishes one operator’s advertised choices on one checked date; it does not establish citywide availability, quality or price.

The figures come from the current Thai Honda Click160 specification and Yamaha Thailand NMAX specification. They explain why the NMAX can feel different while parking, paddling at walking speed or catching a lean. They do not describe every rental: older generations, Click125 units and imported variants can differ.
Before paying, photograph the registration or fleet number and ask the operator to name the year, engine capacity and variant. Then compare that exact bike with the appropriate manufacturer manual. Do not transfer ABS, traction-control, keyless or storage claims from a current catalogue to an older rental without checking the supplied unit.
Size and who each suits
A Click125 is the clearest compact-cost choice in this comparison. A Click160 narrows the engine-capacity gap with the NMAX, but the current Thai specifications still show a meaningful weight difference. Weight is most noticeable when moving the scooter by hand, holding it at a stop and recovering from an off-balance lean — not just once the bike is moving.
For a passenger, do not infer comfort or legal payload from a category label. Both people should sit on the exact bike while it is stationary, with the operator’s permission. Check footrests, helmet fit and the manual’s load limit. A larger seat does not make an inexperienced rider ready for two-up traffic.
If you cannot confidently move the bike off its stand, turn it in the available space and place both feet securely at a stop, choose the easier unit regardless of badge. Condition also overrides catalogue appeal: sound tyres and brakes on a Click are a better rental decision than a poorly maintained NMAX.
Cost
Best Motors’ checked low-season table gave a useful same-operator comparison. It listed the Click125 at 900 baht for 3 days, 2,200 for 14 and 3,000 for 30; the Click160 at 1,000, 2,500 and 4,000; and the NMAX at 1,800, 4,000 and 6,000 for the same periods. The page described those as whole-period prices and said PorRorBor insurance was included.

Verify the licence category for the exact bike
Do not treat either model as a licence-free scooter. Confirm the exact engine size and vehicle class, then use a motorcycle-valid Thai, relevant ASEAN or qualifying licence-plus-IDP route recognised by current Thai rules. What matters more than the model
It is easy to spend the decision worrying about Click versus NMAX. The bigger variable is the shop: its deposit terms, its contract, its passport policy and the state of the actual bike it hands you.
Whichever model you choose, protect yourself the same way:
Get the rate and deposit in writing. Record the amount, currency and exact return conditions on the contract rather than relying on a spoken promise.
Keep your passport. UK travel advice for Thailand says not to hand it over as a guarantee to a motorcycle-rental business. Ask what documented alternative security arrangement the operator accepts.
Photograph and film the vehicle. A dated walk-around with every visible scratch and dent creates evidence if damage is disputed on return.
