Fuel and parking for your Pattaya rental
Confirm the exact vehicle’s fuel instruction and signed return level, then verify parking permission from the current signs or the authority, property or operator responsible for the space.
Do not infer fuel type, grade or return level from the vehicle category or another rental. Read the label and manual for the actual vehicle, align them with the signed handover terms, and record the gauge. For parking, use the current signs and the instructions of the authority or property responsible for the exact space; if permission is unclear, choose another place.
The fuel source of truth
A model name or a staff member’s memory is not enough. Before leaving the rental location, identify the exact vehicle and compare:
- the fuel label on or beside the cap;
- the applicable instruction in the vehicle manual;
- the fuel type or grade written on the handover record or agreement;
- the operator’s written answer if any of those sources conflict.
Do not guess from whether the rental is a scooter or car. Vehicles, variants and conversions differ. Photograph the label and gauge while the identifying plate or rental record can still be connected to the vehicle.
Record the return-fuel rule
The required return level comes from the signed booking and handover evidence, not a citywide custom. Record the gauge at pickup, the wording of the fuel policy, how the level will be assessed and any documented refuelling charge. Thailand’s OCPB says prescribed vehicle-rental contracts should state material delivery, return, payment and security terms; its official controlled-contract explanation does not create one universal fuel policy.
At the fuel stop
Choose a source that clearly identifies the product being supplied and can provide a receipt or other transaction record. Match the pump label to the vehicle instruction before fuelling, and follow the current forecourt safety directions. Keep the receipt until the rental is closed. If the supplied product, pump label or staff instruction is unclear, stop and obtain clarification rather than relying on colour, price or appearance.
If the wrong fuel may have been added
Do not start or continue operating the vehicle merely to test it. Move only when safe and instructed, contact the assistance channel named in the rental documents, and preserve the receipt and written directions you receive. Responsibility, recovery and cover depend on the actual agreement, policy and facts; this guide does not predict the outcome.
Parking: identify who controls the space
Parking permission is location- and time-specific. Before leaving the vehicle, determine whether the space is controlled by a road authority, a public facility, a private property, a hotel or condo, or another operator. Then read the current sign or obtain permission from that responsible party. A map listing, old review or another parked vehicle is not evidence that your rental may stay there.
Roadside and facility parking
Use the signs, markings and temporary notices visible at the exact location. Check permitted vehicle type, hours, payment method, access route and any restriction on overnight or visitor use. Do not block traffic, pedestrian access, entrances, emergency access or another marked space. If a sign is damaged, contradictory or unreadable, select a different authorised space or ask the responsible authority.
Private-property parking
A hotel, restaurant, mall, condo or shopfront controls its own access. Ask an authorised desk or property representative where this specific rental may enter, whether registration or validation is required, what hours apply, and how to exit after closing. Save the current instruction or receipt. Do not infer permission from being a customer or guest unless the responsible property confirms it.

When the fuel source is unclear
